Complete Set of Widow Head Victorian Pennies 1895-1901

Queen Victoria, the longest reigning British Monarch ever, was Queen from 1837-1901. Pennies were issued in nearly every year of her 64 year reign. The new size bronze 'Bun' penny, so called because the Queen was shown with her hair in a bun was introduced in 1860 and was struck until 1894. In 1895 the Queen was 76 and her bust was changed to an older portrait not showing the Queen as a 41 year old! The approved design was known as the 'Widow' head or 'Veiled' head and was featured on all coins from 1895 until her death in 1901. This set of Bronze pennies includes a coin from each year from 1895 until her death in 1901 (7 coins).

Conditions of the coins: All the coins will be circulated examples and be very much like the set shown above. I will not include any damaged coins, holed coins, coins with 'Bronze disease' (green verdigris) or previously polished coins. All the coins will have even tones and wear and be hand picked. The best examples maybe in near fine condition with a little detail, but all the major design elements will all be clear on all the coins.

Price per set: £3.00 (EUR4.20 / US$4.80)

Postage costs: UK/Europe £2.00 (EUR2.80). USA/world US$4.50

Complete Set of British Edwardian Pennies 1902-1910

Edward "The Peacemaker" was already 60 when he came to the Throne after the death of Queen Victoria in 1901. Coins were issued from 1902 until his death in 1910. Because of the short Reign, Edward's coins have always been a popular series to collect as most of the coins for the 9 different dates are relatively easy to come by. This item is a complete set of Edward VII Pennies, all dates 1902-1910 (9 coins).

50 British Predecimal Pennies 1860-1967 (REF: 501DS).

100pennies.jpg (35552 bytes)

The British pre-decimal penny was a handsome 3.1cm (1.5in) large Bronze coin from 1860 - 1967, when decimalisation reduced its size to the tiddlers we have today. 5 different British Monarchs have appeared on the larger pennies: Queen Victoria (1860-1901), Edward VII (1902-1910), George V (1911-1936), George VI (1937-1952) and Elizabeth II (1953-now).

This item is a group of 50 circulated Large British pennies and they have been picked to ensure 10 coins from each of the 5 Kings/Queens mentioned above. Included is: 10 Victorian Pennies, 10 Edwardian Pennies, and so on...

Due to the Reign lengths and the fact that there were gaps in production, and some years are very rare there will most likely be some duplicate dates included. They have been partially sorted, so you won't find any 1933 Pennies, or any other very rare coins, but I have not taken any notice of the 'H' and 'KN' mint George V pennies so you may end up with one of those slightly scarcer varieties if your lucky!

The coins will be circulated examples and be very much like the set shown above. I will not include any damaged coins, holed coins, coins with 'Bronze disease' (green verdigris) or previously polished coins. All the coins will have even tones and wear and be hand picked. The early Victorian coins will be quite worn and the conditions will improve with the newer coins, right up to the 1960's coins which will be in Extremely fine - Uncirculated condition.

This is a great idea to start a collection with and would make a nice gift for a young collector.

Price per 50 Pennies: £10.00 (EUR14.20 / US$17.00)

Postage costs: UK/Europe £4.50 (EUR6.00). USA/world US$12.00 (or US$7.00 surface mail)

1951 Boxed Festival of Britain boxed Crown

crown51red.jpg (28776 bytes)

These beautiful large coins were issued in 1951 to commemorate the festival of Britain held that year. The Reverse features the classic St George and the Dragon image which first appeared on coins during the reign of George III (1760-1820) and it looks particularly good on such a large coin.

There is one boxed coin available and although the coin is as struck showing minor contact marks it is being offered in the 'Specials' area because the box is a bit tatty. Coin comes with the original Royal mint certificate.
